Retirement … what’s up with that?
Hey friends, guess what? I did a wild thing yesterday. I mean, I’ve been thinking about it for ages, but it still felt like a spur-of-the-moment decision. Crazy, right?
So here’s the scoop: I blurted out to a few close friends that I’m gonna “retire.”
Their reactions? A mixed bag. That got me thinking (and feeling a bit confused) about what I really think this whole “retirement” thing is about.
I can tell you what it’s NOT, but what it IS? Gosh, that’s a whole other can of worms, and one that’s pretty tricky to pack into a single blog post.
Hold up – maybe you don’t know me all that well. Let’s just say I’m past the “officially a senior” stage, so this announcement shouldn’t have been a shocker. But it totally was! Even I couldn’t believe the words coming out of my mouth. But boy oh boy, did it feel good when it finally landed!
So, what’s retirement NOT about for me?
You won’t catch me snoozing in my armchair (though I’m definitely up for more reading, writing, and maybe even learning to knit or crochet … or hey, why not both?).
And what it IS about?
Think fun and freedom! I’ll be diving into my creative side, getting in touch with my spiritual self, or just plain enjoying life. I’m stepping off the never-ending treadmill of marketing, emails, and social media madness. After all my years of “doing”, I will finally meet the real Vicky! So yeah, I’ll still be around, blogging and posting, hoping to connect with folks who might be in the same boat.
What to expect next?
Honestly, this whole thing might be a win or a total flop. Either way, I’ll be keeping tabs on my journey. Wanna tag along? It might give you a good laugh or even make you feel super successful. If it’s not your cup of tea, no hard feelings if you hit that “unsubscribe” button.
